I began my travel career in 2000, working with a major travel agency in Sydney. I spent the next seven years in Sydney working for the same company, moving around the various branches as a store turnaround manager.
After my success with this company, I thought it was time to try something a bit different while still remaining in the industry. I joined a corporate travel agency as their leisure manager which gave me further insight into the broad spectrum that is the travel industry.
In January 2010, I decided it was time to come home to Adelaide and began with Phil Hoffmann Travel as a senior consultant. Within a few months I was appointed the role as Assistant Manager of Glenelg Leisure.
In July 2013, I was offered the Branch Manager role at Glenelg Leisure and grabbed it with both hands! I have an amazing team who challenge and make me laugh on a daily basis.
travel tips
- Try not to fit in the whole world in 4 weeks! Remember the fewer places you visit, the more you will experience.
- Sometimes the places that are the hardest to get to are often the best. When things are not going to plan, remember you’re on holidays and smile! Don’t forget to ask for help. It’s amazing how helpful people all over the world can be when you really need it.
- Club Rooms are always a great option and worth every cent!
- I don’t recommend overnighting in Casablanca. Spend the day looking around and then move on.

hot picks
- Luang Prabang, Laos - enjoy an amazing BBQ Laotian-style on the banks of the Mekong River. And for a magical experience, get up before sunrise and take part in the alms giving ceremony to the city’s Buddhist monks.
- Morocco - try to find a Berber restaurant. I did one in Essaouira (where Jimi Hendrix allegedly wrote “Castles in the Sand”). You buy the ingredients from the market (ask your hotel for help with this), leave it with the restaurant and come back a few hours later to the BEST tagine you’ve ever tried! Delicious!
- Maldives – it’s got to be the Cocoa Island by Como. Expect luxurious, boutique overwater bungalows. The Dhoni Loft Suites are amazing!
- Maldives – for a real desert island experience, you can’t go past Soneva Fushi Resort and their luxury villas hidden in dense foliage near a pristine protected coral reef.
- Munich, Germany - do the “free” walking tour that meets at the Glockenspiel Clock each morning. You voluntarily give a tip to the well-informed guide at the end. Our guide was a comedian and the whole tour was a blast!
- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – for the best buffet breakfast in the world, it has to be the Westin Kuala Lumpur.
- Mexico – visit Oaxaca over the Halloween weekend for the Day of the Dead event. A 4-day festival with costumes, huge bands, lighting candles in cemeteries and endless parades with drums, trumpets and tubas. What an amazing experience.
