I have worked in the travel industry since 1985, both in Australia and in Dubai, where I lived for 18 years. I began working with Phil Hoffmann Travel in 2012 and love being back in Australia. I have seen many changes in the industry over the years but believe there is definitely still a place for travel agents in the world and I’m thankful for our clients who prefer to deal with a real person with first-hand experience, rather than relying on the internet to make their bookings.

• The Tivoli Gardens near Rome are often missed by travellers but the beautiful gardens and palace make for a great day trip out of the city if you have the time.
• Florence - my favourite place to eat in this beautiful city is Oibo Café and Restaurant.
• Rome - my recommendation here is the San Marco restaurant.  
• Dubai - the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding is a must do if visiting Dubai. Its aim is to create an awareness and understanding of the local culture, customs and traditions of Islam, which it does very well. At the end of the tour and presentation, you get to enjoy a mouth-watering traditional feast.
