Overflowing with delightful architecture, the charming city of Cambridge is a university city picturesquely located on the River Cam. The University of Cambridge was established in 1209, making it the third-oldest surviving university in the world, and comprises of 31 constituent colleges. It’s the variety of architectural styles of the college buildings, the college gardens and commons and the picturesque tree-lined River Cam with its many bridges that makes Cambridge such a visually spectacular and tranquil city.

Take a punt tour along the river for breathtaking views of the college "backs" (gardens), the gorgeous Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College, the well-known King’s College Chapel and the Wren Library. Pretty at any time of the year, the open park spaces of Cambridge are particularly beautiful in spring when they are scattered with daffodils and crocuses and the carefully cultivated flowerbeds are in full bloom.

Wander around Cambridge on foot and you’ll get to experience the true beauty of the colleges and their grounds. Highlights include King’s College and its grandiose chapel with the largest fan-vaulted ceiling in the world. If you’re lucky to be there at the right time, you can enjoy the angelic voices of the King’s College Choir and hear how their singing reverberates off every wall and stained glass window of the chapel’s interior.

Admire the loveliness of the entrance gate to Christ’s College, the sundial and Mathematical Bridge in Queen’s College, the Wren Library at Trinity College which includes medieval manuscripts, books from Sir Isaac Newton’s own library and manuscripts by A.A. Milne of Winnie-the-Pooh. See the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built around 1130 and one of four surviving round churches in England. A stroll down King’s Parade offers a magnificent snap-shot of the majestic buildings in Cambridge while the Fitzwilliam Museum has on display, history and art from as far back as 2500 BC. Enjoy a spot of shopping in the quirky shops on Mill Road or pop into one of the streets many cafes and restaurants. At the end of the day, enjoy a fine meal in one of the city’s charming pubs.
