Visible from much of the city are the gargantuan Petronas Towers, no doubt the real icon of Kuala Lumpur and affording incredible views of the city from the Skybridge 170 metres up or the Observation Deck at 360 metres. The best shopping can be found on Jalan Bukit Bintang – an endless stretch of shopping malls and department stores. For copy fashion, handbags, DVD’s and the opportunity to haggle, Petaling Street Night Market is your best bet. Also known as the birthplace of Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Street in Chinatown is an area rich with heritage buildings and delicious street food.

Take a city orientation tour where you’ll discover the highlights of the city including the starkly white, marble National Mosque - Masjid Negara or, on the other side of the river, the Masjid Jamek, a mosque built in 1909. Explore the National Museum with its fascinating natural history section or the nearby Lake Gardens located next to the museum; featuring a planetarium, sculpture garden and orchid and hibiscus garden.
