There is no 'one size fits all' way to get from London's Heathrow Airport into London's city and beyond.
The fastest way to get there is on the Heathrow Express. The speedy, non-stop train will transport you between Terminal 2 or 3 and Paddington Station in just 15 minutes. If you're really organised, purchase your ticket 90 days in advance and you'll get it for the bargain basement price of £6.99 one way. Purchase a ticket on the day and you'll be looking at £21.50 one way. Services run every 15 minutes.
Heathrow Connect is slower, but also more affordable. How much slower? It’ll take just under half an hour from the station for Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to Paddington, with five stops along the way. Services run every 30 minutes and a ticket purchased on the day will only set you back £10.10.
While there are Heathrow Express ticket machines seemingly everywhere, there are none for the Heathrow Connect – you’ll need to buy your ticket from the counter at the entrance to the airport station (as with the Heathrow Express, Oyster Cards aren’t accepted).
Heathrow Connect's train isn’t as flash as its fast-track counterpart: smaller luggage racks, less comfortable seats, no AC power sockets – these are more like standard regional carriages than dedicated airport sets.
If time is on your side, London Underground's Piccadilly Line will have you arriving into London within the hour and will cost you less than £6. Services run every 10 minutes.
National Express operates coaches from Heathrow to more than 500 destinations or you can pick up a coach that will connect you from Heathrow to one of four major junctions for the National Rail network.
Pre-purchase a private or shared transfer from your Phil Hoffmann Travel Consultant and you won't need to contend with public transport at all! If money's no object, there are plenty of taxis and minicabs.
