As announced in October, PHT, in collaboration with Adventure World, have been inspired by the incredible work of Animals Asia and their dedication to rescuing long suffering bile bears, and providing them life-long care and freedom in their award-winning sanctuaries, with a mission to end the suffering of the bear bile industry in Asia. To support this, PHT are now the Bear Guardian of Twilight, a once-exploited Moon bear now thriving in a new chapter of her life.

Click here to read about our commitment to Twilight, and becoming her Bear Guardian.

Now, we're on a mission to sponsor Twilight's friends, Kindness & Mua. With your support, we can help Kindness & Mua, by donating or visiting these sanctuaries, accessible exclusively through Animals Asia’s partnership with Adventure World, where love and care provide a second chance at life.

Meet Kindness

Female - 19 Years Old - In Tam Dao, Vietnam

Kindness is an easy-going, active, playful, confident, friendly bear. She has two special friends, Leo and Bear, and she loves spending time with them both.

She’ll wrestle with Leo many times throughout the day and take rests chilling with Bear on their favourite hammock.

Kindness also loves the pool and venturing around the outdoor enclosure to look for enrichment items to play with like piles of leaves and puzzle feeders.

Kindness has a beautiful smile, a gorgeous thick and shiny coat and a stunning golden crescent on her chest.

Kindness' Story

Kindness was rescued from a bile farm in the northern province of Ha Nam in August 2023.

She was the last bear on the last bile farm in the province. She arrived at our sanctuary with many health issues after spending nearly two decades in a cage.

She had a deformed toe that was infected, painfully dry and cracked paw pads, and claws that had grown so long they were just about to pierce her paw pads. She had spondylosis in her spine, an aortic aneurysm and bleeding into her retinas due to chronic hypertension. She also had a fractured canine tooth buried under a thick layer of calculus.

Now, after intensive veterinary treatment including a root canal, she’s doing well, and is happy, and loved, and enjoying sanctuary life with her new friends.

With your help, we can help raise vital funds by donating or visiting Kindness at her sanctuary, accessible exclusively through Animals Asia’s partnership with Adventure World.

Meet Mua

Male - 20 years old - in Bach Ma, Vietnam

Many of the rescued bears are quite picky about their food, with definite likes and dislikes, but not Mua – he loves everything! He is a curious, determined foodie!

Mua is happiest when he’s outdoors foraging for his meals of veggies, fruit and dog kibble. He's a hard-working forager, searching on and under every single structure in the enclosure to make sure he hasn’t missed even one tasty morsel.

Not surprisingly, Mua’s favourite toys are those involving treats, like bamboo puzzle feeders with dried fruit and nuts inside and cardboard boxes smeared with peanut butter and jam.

Splashing in the pool then drying off in the sunshine on the grass is the perfect pastime for this easy-going boy.

Mua's Story

Mua was underweight and ravenously hungry when Animals Asia rescued him from Hanoi’s notorious bile farming district of Phung Thuong in June 2024.

This poor boy had been kept in a cage on a bile farm for almost 20 years, with no chance to experience the natural world. Another moon bear, Nang, joined Mua on his two-day road journey to our sanctuary after her rescue from a nearby farm on the same day.

Mua arrived with rub marks on his face, restricted motion in his limbs and poor dental health so he was put on pain relief. He also had an infection in his gall bladder from where the bile is extracted.

Now, after intensive veterinary treatment including multiple tooth extractions, he’s doing well and enjoying sanctuary life with his new friend, Nang.

With your help, we can help raise vital funds by donating or visiting Mua and friends, at his sanctuary, accessible exclusively through Animals Asia’s partnership with Adventure World.
