Not only do Qantas status credits determine your Frequent Flyer membership level, they're also the key to longed-for perks including lounge access, priority check-in and boarding, higher checked luggage allowance and potential upgrades.
Until now, the only way to earn them has been by flying. That's changed, temporarily, with the announcement that Qantas will allow travellers to earn status credits with the swipe of a credit card.
Currently limited to just two credits cards - the Qantas American Express Ultimate Card and ANZ Frequent Flyer Black Card – this one-off bonus is applicable to new applicants to either of these cards, with the potential to earn 75 status credits once the card is used to pay for any Qantas return flight booked by 1 May 2017, where travel is completed by 30 September 2017.
The 75 status credits will also count towards your ‘lifetime’ balance, though they won’t count towards triggering your next Loyalty Bonus or retaining Platinum One status.
You’ll also earn Qantas frequent flyer points on these cards with a healthy 75,000 point sign-up bonus to get things started.
